Domaine Cottenceau

👨‍🌾 History and Creation

  • Founded in 2018 by Maxime Cottenceau in Buxy, south of Givry, in the Côte Chalonnaise.

  • Coming from a winegrowing family, he decided to stop selling grapes and began vinifying and bottling himself.

  • Trained alongside Vincent Dureuil-Janthial in Rully, he launched his first vintages with rigor and modernity.

📍 Location and Terroir

  • Based in Buxy (Saône-et-Loire), at the heart of the Montagny appellation.

  • Vineyard of about 7.5 to 10 hectares, on limestone and clay soils.

  • Southeast-facing slopes, ideal for Chardonnay, the flagship grape of Côte Chalonnaise.

🌱 Philosophy and Practices

  • Progressive conversion to organic farming since 2020.

  • Manual harvesting, precise vinifications, long aging (up to 18 months) for whites.

  • Focus on freshness and fruit for reds.

🍇 Grapes and Cuvées

  • Whites: Chardonnay, Aligoté.

  • Reds: Pinot Noir.
