🍷 Hiyu Wine Farm: Radical Biodiversity and Experimental Natural Wine in Oregon

Founded in 2010 by former sommelier Nate Ready and China Tresemer, Hiyu Wine Farm is a vineyard-farm located in the Columbia Gorge, east of Portland, Oregon. On about 6 hectares of vines and 15 hectares of polyculture, the estate grows nearly 80 grape varieties, often grafted onto each other. Plots are planted by “geographic identity” (Alsace, Jura, Italy…), harvested and vinified together to create intuitive, living wines. The farm follows permaculture principles, blending vines, animals, gardens, forest, and cuisine. The wines are natural, additive-free, luminous, complex, and deeply original.
