🍷 Jean-Pierre Robinot: Living Wine and Loire Poetry in Chahaignes

Jean-Pierre Robinot is a legendary figure in France’s natural wine movement. After founding the magazine Le Rouge et le Blanc and running the Paris wine bar L’Ange Vin in the 1980s–90s, he returned to his native village of Chahaignes (Sarthe) in the early 2000s to create his estate: Les Vignes de l’Ange Vin. He farms about 15 hectares organically in the Jasnières and Coteaux-du-Loir appellations, on red clay and flint soils. His winemaking is radical: no additives, no added sulfur, native yeasts, and long aging (up to 24 months) in barrels. His wines—Chenin whites and Pineau d’Aunis reds—are vibrant, deep, sometimes wild, always alive.
