Losonci Bálint
🍷 Losonci Bálint: Volcanic Natural Wine from the Heart of Hungary
Located in Gyöngyöspata in the Mátra wine region north of Budapest, Losonci Bálint is a natural wine estate founded in 2004 by Bálint Losonci, a former wine journalist turned winemaker. The estate farms around 8 hectares on volcanic soils (andesite, red clay, chalk) at 170–200 meters altitude. Viticulture is certified organic, with spontaneous fermentation, no additives, and no filtration. Bálint focuses on native and rare Hungarian varieties like Kékfrankos, Furmint, Hárslevelű, Purcsin, and Tihanykék, crafting expressive, terroir-driven wines that reflect the freshness of the continental climate and the minerality of the volcanic hills.
