🍷 Maison Viticole Ligas: Greek Natural Wine Rooted in Tradition and Permaculture

Located in Pella, Northern Greece, Domaine Ligas is a pioneer of natural winemaking in the country. Founded in the late 1980s by Thomas Ligas, the estate is now run by his daughter Melissanthe. From the start, the domaine embraced organic farming, later transitioning to biodynamics and permaculture in 2007. The vineyards, planted on the slopes of Mount Paiko, benefit from sunny conditions and well-drained clay-limestone and siliceous soils. Winemaking is natural, with no additives or sulfites, and aging occurs in amphorae, stainless steel, or large oak barrels. The estate champions native Greek grapes like Roditis, Assyrtiko, Kydonitsa, and Xinomavro to produce vibrant, soulful Mediterranean wines.
