🍷 Mátyás Wines: Slovak Natural Wine Rooted in Biodiversity, Tradition, and Energy
Located in Nová Vieska in the Strekov wine region of southwestern Slovakia, Mátyás Wines is a family estate founded in 2003 by András Mátyás. The vineyard spans 12 hectares, certified organic since 2013, and follows biodynamic and permaculture principles. Vines grow on the slopes of János Hill, facing the Danube, swept by constant winds and surrounded by gardens, sheep, and free-roaming pigs. Winemaking is natural, with no additives or sulfites, and aging takes place in neutral barrels. The estate highlights native and European varieties, using skin contact and direct press methods to produce vibrant, honest, and expressive wines.
