🍷 Nikau Farm: Australian Natural Wine Rooted in Wild Biodiversity and Radical Micro-Vinification

Located in Gippsland, Victoria, Nikau Farm is a natural wine project founded by Dane Johns (also of Momento Mori). He and his family live on a 95-acre property in the Baw Baw ranges, where two tiny vineyard plots (0.75 acres each) are nestled within untouched forest ecosystems. The soils are compacted sandstone from ancient seabeds, topped with fertile loam. The climate is coastal-influenced, with cool nights and high rainfall. Nikau’s philosophy is based on observation, minimalism, and deep respect for nature: no additives, no filtration, no added sulfites. The wines are rare, vibrant, and aged in amphora or concrete, expressing the purity of place.
